Helicopter Landing Site Planning Tool (HLS-PRAS)
HLS-PRAS is a specialist 2D and 3D mapping tool designed to help air ambulance crews and emergency responders rapidly identify safe helicopter landing sites—anytime, anywhere.
In high-stakes emergencies, crews often need to land near a casualty or incident scene. But predetermined landing zones aren’t always suitable, especially at night or in unfamiliar or cluttered environments. HLS-PRAS enables aircrew to quickly scan terrain, apply aircraft-specific landing criteria, and identify viable sites fast, and without relying on daylight reconnaissance or pre-surveyed locations.
Key features:
- Automatically filters out unsuitable areas based on slope, obstructions, surface type and aircraft D-value
- Assesses safe landing sites within walking or driving distance of the incident
- Provides 2D and 3D visualisation for clear operational planning
