The solution

The Cunning Running software that finds safe landing sites, fast, for air ambulances and emergency responders-day or night

HLS-PRAS is a specialist 2D and 3D mapping and planning tool that rapidly identifies safe helicopter landing sites in all environments, day or night.

Developed in close collaboration with UK air ambulance services, it helps flight planners and pilots scan unfamiliar terrain and quickly pinpoint viable landing site options, even in the most challenging conditions. The results: minimised response time and risk, and faster arrival to administer critical care and save lives.

Optimised for low-light conditions, the HLS-PRAS software applies aircraft-specific criteria, including Dvalue, as well as ground gradient, surface type and overhead obstructions. It rapidly and automatically Iters out unsuitable zones while also assessing walking and driving distance between the landing site and the incident location.

With HLS-PRAS there’s no longer any need to rely on daylight reconnaissance, pre-surveyed locations and laborious manual processes.

Integration with ACANS and standard GIS tools is built in for onward tasking. The HLS-PRAS software is also evolving to support BVLOS drone deployment, helping emergency services plan safe drone drop zones for critical supplies in hard-to-reach locations.
